Located on the southwestern tip of Cuba’s peninsula, this biosphere reserve covers over 120,000 hectares, including a designated National Park. Its diverse ecosystems range from mangrove forests and coastal areas to pristine fields of silica sand and caves. Home to nearly 200 bird species and four of the seven global marine turtle species, the reserve is vital for wildlife conservation. Its uninhabited beaches provide crucial nesting sites for green and loggerhead turtles.
